I have an old 1996 GMC Sierra that I've had since October 1998. It's a good old truck. It's still in very good condition and everything on it works like new. Recently I had to replace the intake manifold gasket, some air conditioning parts and the high-pressure hose on the power steering pump, but I find that as long as you repair things as they break, then an older American made car will last forever.
This is a post about installing my old Yaesu FT-8100R in the truck. When the truck was new, it has a CD player in the slot underneath the air conditioning controls. This slot is perfect for many amateur radio rigs. The FT-8100 head looks like it was made to fit this slot perfectly. The only thing I wish I had done was to paint the tray behind the head black, so it wasn't as visible in the small gaps. Next time I have the dash apart, I will do that.
All things considered, I think it looks pretty nice.
So. I'm consolidating the Morsemaster and NØTAN domains to this one website. The first step is to install Dot Net Blog Engine and configure it.
